Description

There are two primary objectives of the Open Class. One is to provide a way to register and obtain sail numbers for boats that do not fall into any other class. The other is to serve as a conduit for future class growth and development. The following Classes are an example of this objective in action.

One Design:

America3, Il Moro, and Spirit of 92
Three different boats intended to become one class. These Victor Model Products boats are made from select wood and Hi-Impact Polystyrene plastic. These kits are designed to be easily assembled. All have 598 sq. in. of sail area, are 39.2” LOA, and weigh in at 8 pounds. Beams range from 8.25 to 8.5”, heights from 68.0” to 72.5” and keel depth from 10” to 12”

Stars & Stripes , and Australia II
Two different boats intended to become one class. The Victor Model Products boats are made from select wood and Hi-Impact Polystyrene plastic. These kits are designed to be easily assembled. Both have 598 sq. in. of sail area, are 39.2” LOA, and weigh in at 8 pounds. Beams are 8.25 and 9” respectively; heights from 63” and 64” and keel depths are 5.5” and 7.5”.

Voyager
This boat was previously manufactured under the name "Cup Yacht".  The Voyager is economical, handsome, and easily built.  Owners praise this boat for its speed, ruggedness, and smooth handling.  The big sister of the MRP/Thunder Tiger Victoria, the one meter Voyager duplicates the classic beauty of the later Twelve Meter yachts.

MULTIHULLS

Formula 48 - Prospective Formula 48 Multihull Class

This is a multihull class, based on an "open development" concept, where anything not prohibited is legal, and with the exception of maximum length, beam and sail area, all other aspects of the class are open for individual experimentation and development within a very short list of rules. Catamarans, Trimarans and Proas all are welcome, and construction and sail design, materials and concepts are open for experimentation.
